Osborne Aviation has been selected as the helicopter contractor for the third and largest stage of the Three Capes Track currently under construction on the Tasman Peninsula. To preserve the natural environment, all track workers will be transported to site by helicopter and several thousand tonnes of materials will be lifted into the track using sling load operations. Osborne will work closely with the Parks and Wildlife site crews and track construction contractors throughout 2015 to deliver the track for a grand opening in November 2015.
The Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service’s largest and most ambitious track project, the Three Capes Track, will be a world class, multi-day walking experience on the Tasman Peninsula along a track up to 82 km in length. The track will showcase Cape Raoul, Cape Pillar and Cape Hauy as well as stunning natural features and scenery including dolerite cliffs and ocean views.
The Three Capes Track has already been named in Lonely Planet’s hottest travel experiences for 2015. “This world-class, multi-day experience, up to 82 km in length when fully complete, will feature hut accommodation and a boat-based element, and will showcase the area’s stunning scenery,” Lonely Planet writes.
