Three Capes Track Stage 2
Helicopter support for stage two of Three Capes Track construction (Hut construction and Cape Pillar)
The Three Capes Track is a spectacular four-night walk through the Tasman National Park in Tasmania’s South East. Walkers spend three nights at specially built huts over the 48km trail and enjoy spectacular coastal views from high up on Cape Pillar.
Osborne Aviation’s role in the project involved well over 5000 flights of construction materials for huts, gravel, timber and personnel. With nearly 300-metre high sea cliffs, tree canopies towering over 50m in some locations and some wild Tasmanian weather, this project called for Osborne’s highly experienced long-line pilots. Initially staged out of a remote base, this project was the catalyst for Osborne Aviation setting up a base for Southern operations in Port Arthur.
The walking experience opened in 2015 and has been a remarkable success welcoming in up to 48 guests at each of the three huts, each night, all year round. Find out more about the walking experience here.
