The Tasman Peninsula features one of the most famous and popular destinations on the Tasmanian tourism circuits – Port Arthur Historic Site – a must visit attraction for every visitor to the region. Did you know about all the other attractions on offer in the area? A great starting place is to check out the local tourism association website found here or for a little further around the region Hobart & Beyond provide great inspiration to get out and explore.
When on the road down the peninsula we always recommend a stop at Bangor Wine and Oyster Shed for a spot of wine tasting and selection of oysters. By the way, they also make great coffee!
Of course if you’re looking for somewhere to go for lunch it’s hard to go past Port Arthur Lavender who put together a fantastic menu with a stunning outlook. All this within easy walking distance from our heli base across the road.
If you want to get up close and personal to some of those massive sea cliffs then a boat trip with Tasman Island Cruises is a must during your stay on the Tasman Peninsula. These guys also provide the boat transfer that provides access for walkers about to embark on the Three Capes Track.
There is a lot of variety to choose from when it comes to selecting accommodation, for those visiting in Summer however, be sure to book in advance. A few of our favourite places to recommend are Stewart’s Bay Lodge, Abs by the Bay and Port Arthur Holiday Park.
