Forestry and Agriculture
Osborne Aviation’s production team has the skills and equipment available to deliver aerial agricultural and forestry solutions. Since 1995, Osborne Aviation has provided aerial services to major timber corporations and to government forestry services. This work has included herbicide site preparation for both pine and eucalypt, release programs on plantation, granular application, seeding and fertilizer application, aerial firefighting, fire lighting, timber spraying and surveying. We have a wide range of equipment and experience with varying terrain ranging from flat to highly mountainous
Our aircraft are equipped with AG-NAV DGPS systems, Micro-Foil Booms and Accu-Flo Nozzles. For insecticide and pesticide work we use the MicronAir atomiser range. Our Differential GPS equipment makes it possible to spray/seed/fertilise each tract with extreme accuracy by the predetermined flight plan and boundaries. It also produces a digital record of the entire process – what we sprayed, airspeed, altitude and time. The data from each job is uploaded to our online portal, processed by our GIS officer, and archived on backup drives as a permanent record. This data is always available to you as the customer as a valuable audit trail of all work completed.
With our engineering connections we can also offer services beyond the reach of pure helicopter operators. We operate the ArcGIS software suite, and our in-house Geospatial experts can produce professional post-flight shape file or pdf reports showing aircraft track and other audit statistics. We can also generate spray polygons for you based on site surveys. Osborne has an in-house spray pattern testing program which is used to test each aircraft and spray system prior to major contracts. We can report on coefficient of variation, droplet size and volume/ha application rates to confirm to agronomists or your in-house staff that the desired application is being achieved.
Osborne group company DroneTech provides a variety of technical services useful to forestry companies using photogrammetry and LIDAR technologies, including regeneration surveys, tree counts, tree height assessments, tree health surveys and digital elevation models. We can collect this aerial data using manned or unmanned aircraft.
With over 20,000 hours experience in aerial application we can provide the turn-key solution you need to get the job done.
